CNC Milled Wheel Cups
- This tool was designed to Align & Press the wheels on Steam engines & Electric Engines.
- With our Slot & Indexing Screw system in the Wheel cups, this allows multiple different style wheel fit the same cup set. We found manufacture used the same diameter wheels but moved the offset of the sidebar screws. The slot can now accommodate different style wheels of the same diameter.
- The tool is CNC machined out of solid 6061 aluminum blank.
- Cups are the same but when you flip one cup it will correctly set the 87 degrees offset. They will set the left side to lead the right. If right side lead or custom sizes are needed, they are available through or Custom Wheel Cup Program, Contact us for more information.
- Some engine may require two different size Wheel Cups. We found American Flyer have made the center drive wheels a little smaller than the outer drive wheels. This is only on a 6 or 8 drive wheel engine. Not sure if any other manufacture did this, but haven’t seen it on Lionel, McCoy or Ives.
- A few Wheel cups will be Non-Quartering. The only difference is they will not have the indexing slot. All other feature are the same.
Our Wheel cups are based off this diameter on the wheels. Make sure to measure against the flange. Some wheels have a small tamper to them.
A standard 1/4″ hex head screw that used for most side bar can be used. If 1/4″ hex head screw is not used our Indexing Screws can be used. Available with the following threads 6-32, 8-32, 3-48, 3-56, & 4-40
Of course they will work with our Rivet/Arbor Press. But a standard Arbor press will work fine as long as you have a large enough opening.
Screw-in Post can be added to our Wheel Cups. This will allow you to use our Wheel Cups just like the old Lionel Wheel Cups. So you can use them on a Lionel or Hobby Horse Press. Made from cold rolled steel.

Our Wheel cups can be used in a Machinist Vised. Jaws need to go a little higher than the center of the wheel.
The sized is engraved in front of each cup. This size is the Diameter of wheel the cup was design for. Actual wheel cup diameter will be different .

- Slide bar screws only work if they are the standard ¼” hex head. Otherwise, you will need to use our “indexing Screws”.
- Some engines require only 2 cups, Others require 4 (2 for the outer wheels, 2 for the center wheels. Cups marked with the smaller Diameter will be for the center wheels.
- Non-Quartering cups have all same feature as Quartering cups except the Quartering slot.
